Welcome to the official website of the Sharpshooters Club at Truman State University!
We are Truman’s firearms club and strive to create a safe, welcoming, and apolitical environment for new and experienced shooters alike. Whether you’ve been shooting since you could walk or have never seen a firearm in real life, you are in the right place. Our club hosts shoots themed around rifles, pistols, shotguns, archery, throwing knives, historical firearms, and much, much more.
I’m worried about safety. Aren’t firearms dangerous? We are a safety-first organization. At the beginning of each semester, members attend a formal safety meeting on campus with real, unloaded firearms. The executive board reviews safe handling procedures with all members before anybody fires a shot. We also require eye and ear protection at every shoot.
What about ammo? Do I need my own gun? You do not need to supply or own anything to shoot with us. We do require that members pay dues before shooting with us, as ammunition is not cheap. Dues also pay for our storage locker, some inter-squad events throughout the year, and U&I fees. You do not need to own a firearm to participate in shoots.
Am I Sharpshooters material? Of course. If you are curious and willing to respect safety rules, you are halfway to becoming a Sharpshooter.
